Making Priscilla from Witcher 3

When I played Witcher 3 and Priscilla first made her appearance singing the gorgeous song Wolven Storm, I just knew I had to cosplay her. At first I didn't exactly know when to make her, but I finally decided on making her for Spillexpo, which focuses on games and gaming and was held in October 2015.

As Priscilla is a minor character in Witcher 3, it wasn't too easy to find published reference photos of her. But luckily, the song she sings in the game is a great reference! It's also all over youtube, so you can screenshot all you want.

THE HAT
The hat looks really fancy, but is actually quite simple to make. It's just a circle of fabric, pleated and sewn onto a fleather piping trim.

I made the badge with a foam core and used a pyrographer to burn the pattern into the foam. Then I covered it with worbla, primed and painted it.

The finished hat, before I got the orange feather.

THE TOP
For some reason I just completely forgot to take progress photos while making the top, but I'll try my best to explain. I used a bodice/corset I already owned to make the pattern for her blue bodice. I used linen for the outer fabric, and nature coloured cotton for the interfacing. After putting those pieces together, I then sewed the bias onto the opening in front, before I attached the sleeves.

I then put in all the eyelets in front before I attached the floral fabric and the orange bottom of the top. Finally I hand sewed the golden stitches and the eyelets for the golden ribbons to pass through around the shoulders and on top of the sleeves.

(Look further down for a photo of the finished top.)

THE SKIRT
Priscilla's skirt is a balloon skirt and is really fun. I enjoyed making it.
I started out making the waist band and then attached all the ribbon to it. I have 29 individual pieces. Ideally, I would have liked the trim to be broader and even closer together, but this is the trim that I found, and as it was quite expensieve, so I had to have some space in between them.

I then attached the rest of the fabric to the waist band. I lined up all the trim to the bottom edge and hemmed that. Then I installed an invisible zipper in the back. And finally I inserted an elastic band inside the bottom hem to make the skirt shrink at the bottom and give it that baloon look.

THE PANTYHOSE
I bought one orange pantyhose and one turquoise pantyhose. I cut one leg from each of them and overlocked them together to get a new pair.

THE SHOES
I got these rather cheap on Ebay. The pattern is drawn on with a pen. I didn't think about using a stencil until after I had finished, which means the pattern is different on all sides, but oh well!

THE QUIVER
The quiver itself is made of worbla, and was primed and painted. I also cut two slits in it for the belt to pass through. And as I learned from my mistake with the shoes, I made a stencil this time for the horse painting on the quiver.

THE PAPERS

I painted the papers with tea to give them that old look. While they were still wet, I also made sure to rip the edges a little.

When they were dry, I wrote the lyrics for The Wolven Storm on one of them and a letter to Dandelion on the other (you can find that ingame). The third one has the sheet music for The Wolven Storm.
